Nov 11, 2009 · The KVM module can be compiled right into the kernel and no extra packages is needed (beside qemu, but I'm talking compiling a new kernel). Just take the old config of your kernel (either from /boot/vmlinu.2.6.x-config or from /proc/config) and jump down to the last one above "Load Configuration" where it says "Virtualization".

But the skb->data pointer is used in ath6kl_tx_complete() to get the index of the virtual interface which will not give the correct interface index and sometimes may give the following WARN_ON() message.

Initially I thought this answer referred to instruction support e.g. SSE support that could be emulated. But of course that doesn't make sense as you either run in KVM mode or TCG and not a mix of the both. So I guess the emulation referred to here might be things like x2apic where there is no h/w support but the kernel can fake it.

Sep 15, 2010 · Last update. This thread should be re-titled "KVM will not start after upgrade to 2.6.32-3-pve". I had upgraded both the pve and the kernel at the same time. After a reboot back into the 2.6.24-10-pve kernel everything is working fine with pve-manager 1.6. Guess I'll have to hold off on the new kernel for a bit.
