Nov 16, 2009 · LVM for a cluster file system? I don't think that will work well. We use OCFS2 for hosting our web content on multiple Proxmox hosts running OpenVZ webserver containers. This way if one of our Proxmox servers goes down our other webservers running as containers will continue to be available. We also use OCFS2 for storing the vzdump backups.

Apr 20, 2009 · You will not get benefit of extending LVM as there is no resize command for OCFS2. And as per my knowledge OCFS2 does not support resizing at this moment. Even if does in future, isn't OCFS2 a clustering file system? It should support resizing without needing LVM. Also, LVM is not cluster aware (whatever that means).

Sure, the OL6 may be "pay less for better support" but when a shop has a large quantity of RHEL6 systems already, and wants to use just a few of them with OCFS2, it complicates things if those boxen have to run the slightly different OL6 instead (more support contracts to manage, different patch/upgrade lifecycles to follow, etc.).
