Sep 28, 2013 · I like the rail just smaller than the piston to get good support for the ring and it makes it a lot easier to install the piston. I've run into a couple of sets of Mahles that had the rail too deep in the groove and it's very difficult to get the pistons in without the oil ring trying to jump out.
