Sep 08, 2015 · Since OpenGL is open sourced, developers can submit their own algorithms to make the current methods more efficient, or maybe introduce new methods altogether (of course this has to be approved by opengl), this is far better than a fixed number of employees at Microsoft working to improve Direct X (why? more brains working on something).

Minecraft needs OpenGL support to run and the Microsoft drivers will not provide OpenGL. Only Basic driver support. I have 4 of these computers with Core 2 Quads @ 2.53 Ghz and 3 with Pentium D's @ 3.4 Ghz and I really do not want to rebuild them all to Windows 7. But as I see it Intel is the only one that can build a new driver for OpenGL.
