Is infiniband that cheap now? It was the new hotness ... well, okay, damn near a decade ago, I guess. So maybe it is that slow today. How about 10GB to one port on the switch and gigabit to the rest? not sure if you can find switches like that cheap these days; I remember a handful of years ago switches with fast ethernet ports but 2 gigabit uplinks.
