Nov 14, 2008 · Oracle Multimedia is a feature of the database and in Oracle Database 11g includes comprehensive support for managing DICOM images in the database. The conclusion arrived at in the above posts about storing images in the database is incorrect. The performance figures appear to be way off perhaps because the database was not tuned appropriately.

Beginning with Oracle Database 11g, Release 2 (11.2), the DICOM support in ORDImage objects that was introduced in Oracle Database 10g, Release 2 (10.2) was not enhanced.
