Hello folks, I have 2.4TB san storage i want to make 4 partition each having 600GB. I use fdisk but not possible to do this because of fdisk limitation. So i tried parted but it make 2.4TB one partition but with parted not possible to make 4 partition having 600GB, may be i m doing wrong, can some one advise me on that how to make 4 partition with parted.

If you accidently delete a partition with this command, use mkpart (not mkpartfs) to recover it. Also, you can use the gpart program (see section 9. Related Software and Info) to recover damaged disk labels. Note for msdos disk labels: if you delete a logical partition, all logical partitions with a larger minor number will be renumbered.

As Giles mentions in the comment above, MSDOS partition tables do not support labels. The lsblk output you added to your post suggests it's a MSDOS table, which explains why you won't be able to add/change the partition name with the parted. – garethTheRed Aug 21 '14 at 8:07

loop provides support for raw disk access (loopback-style) — I’m not sure about the uses for this one. As you can see, the majority of these are for older systems, and you probably won’t need to create a partition table of any type other than gpt or msdos .
