Now that you mention it, I've got gvfs installed according to Portage (Gentoo user here) and locate tells me there's a bunch of backends for it in /usr/libexec including gvfsd-smb (/usr/lib/gvfs doesn't exist) but PCManFM is giving me "Operation not supported".

Jan 12, 2018 · pcmanfm is able to connect to my samba shares directly, both via smb://servername/share AND smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/share. However, when I go into the Network view, either pcmanfm hangs entirely until it reaches its timeout, or I get the "Windows Network" subentry, clicking on which simply yields nothing (though does not "hang" the application).

Feb 27, 2019 · Hi, for some reason I cannot connect to SMB shares I have from a windows server 2016, I can access these shares fine from any other PC and kodi can access smb shares on my windows 7 host but even though I entered username and password for the share, event log on the server shows that kodi still tries logging in with a null user id.
