The first description of the “Pelvic Support Osteotomy” comes from Lance 1936. He described a sub trochanteric femur osteotomy in the surgical treatment of chronically dislocated hips. Ilizarov proposed additionally a varus osteotomy of the distal femur. This allowed a strong abduction osteotomy of the hip and thus less Trendelenburg gait.
