There is a setting in your BIOS that must be enabled in order for your USB keyboard to work in that situation. That setting is called USB Legacy Support. This setting must be enabled if the PC has a USB Keyboard and the user wants to use this keyboard either in a DOS environment or before the operating system loads (in boot menus, for example).
