Re: API connection does not support UTF-8 charset. We do not natively support UTF-8 anywhere in our product, either UI or API. Our native character encoding is ISO-8859-1, Latic Character Set. Our UI does allow you to copy/paste or type in UTF-8 characters, however we encode them to the HTML entity values instead of storing them natively.

I'm dealing with data from some CDN access logs which are to put it nicely diversely encoded, but I think a use case Spark should fully support. So, my suggested fix, which I'd like some guidance, is to change textFile to spit out broken strings by not using Text's UTF-8 encoding.
