Sep 16, 2011 · The 2850 doesn't support Virtualization. The only 8th generation Dell server with the aility to use it is the PE6850R. The limitation is that the BIOS doesn't support VT (Virtualization Technology) which is why you see the VM staying in Start Up, but never starts.

Is there any way to get Hyper-V to start in Windows 2008 on a PowerEdge 2800? I keep getting a message saying that the hardware-assisted virtualization should be enabled in the BIOS. Now, this PowerEdge has 2 Xion processors, and the Intel Xion does support virtualization, but I cannot find the flag anywhere in the BIOS.

Aug 19, 2008 · Situation: I've been given the assignment to get more out of our Dell PowerEdge 2800 than just the Win2003 we used to run on it. I've already upgraded the RAM to 5GB, so that shouldn't be a problem. We'd like to run 2 virtual hosts (small start to see if the machine can manage it, it doesn't have VT-capable CPUs), one Win2003, one Linux.

Mar 06, 2013 · I have 3 Dell PowerEdge 2800 servers running Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 that are in need of hard drive upgrades and at the same time resizing the C drive partitions. They are roughly 7 years old and at the time the C drive was partitioned with only 20GB of space on all 3 servers. All are configured on a RAID 1 array.

We have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 server that we're looking to do run some virtual servers on. Based on our research Xenserver is the best fit for our business needs. The 2850 supports a 64bit OS, but doesn't seem to support hardware virtualization. I thought all 64bit chips support hardware virtualization?
