    CS3 came out in 2007, and CS2 is even older. Both predate wide usage of MP4 files in an editing environment. You could try updating CS3 to 3.2, which did add support for many mpeg-based codecs (prior to this, very few people edited MP4 files natively; Premiere relied on HDV, DVCPRO-HD,XDCAM and MPEG-2 (and other proprietary codecs) for HD back then).
