Thanks a lot for the patch, but while it may work for you, it doesn't seem to be ready to be committed. Having to recompile Privoxy to change username and password and the fact that the authentication doesn't seem to be optional is a show-stopper.

Hi, Would it be possible to add support for socks5 proxies complementing the already existent support for socks4 and socks4a?. In particular, the openssh client has support for acting as a socks4 or socks5 proxy. When using this functionality together with privoxy socks4 has to be selected, and thus dns requests are leaked. By addings support for socks5, this could be avoided.

Jun 23, 2019 · Hello, All I have a C7 machine running Privoxy configured for socks5 and I'm using Foxfire with the proxy settings configured to socks5 also. The firewall on the C7 machine will only accept requests from One(1) specific ip & mac address.

Changing IE's proxy settings won't help you at all-- the other poster was just observing that it works for IE. Because the .NET Framework doesn't support SOCKS, you'd have to write your own CERN-Proxy to SOCKS-Proxy converter, such that .NET talks to the CERN proxy (the type it supports) and your code converts that to a SOCKS proxy call.
