The PAS (ProClarity Analytics Server) database is the repository for what we call "views", which are built in the Professional client and subsequently published to the PAS, stored as xml and MDX (the query langauge that ProClarity Professional creates based on your Analysis Services cube).

I am using Proclarity desktop professional for some time. When I use the excel add-in of it (known as Intelligent Apps), the add-in first connects to the server before allowing me to change anything. It first runs the entire report to be able to make changes.
