Subs that are anything other than external .SRT's streamed via PS3 Media Server or DivX/AVI with subs embedded by an app like AVIADDXSUBS are just too much hard work on the PS3.

It's not freeware though, it is Elecard XMuxer Pro. It has remux, demux and muxing options. It seems to support most elementary streams, program/transport streams, mp4, avi etc.
