FS#41937 : [qemu] Please enable SDL2 and GTK+

    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/41937
Description: QEMU starting with version 1.5 added a GTK+ GUI interface. Most issues with that interface should be solved in 2.1. Support for SDL 2 was added in version 2.0. I don't know of any reasons to prefer SDL 1.2. Steps to reproduce: % qemu-system-x86_64 -display gtk GTK support is disabled % ldd /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 grep SDL

    https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=839695
Oct 04, 2016 · Yes, the dependency issues are a bit too severe to my taste. I tried to make display modular in qemu, but failed, because sdl1 which is currently used can't be made modular (it requires replacing main() function with its wrapper), sdl2 support in qemu isn't as mature as sdl1 (not everything work), and generally display isn't easy to modularize.

SDL support is not included in standard MinGW, but packages for MinGW are available on the SDL homepage. POSIX thread support is not included in Debian or Ubuntu. Latest QEMU will need it, so you have to get it from MinGW (see links below). Cross compilers usually are installed in /usr/bin with a prefix. For Debian, the cross gcc is called i586-mingw32msvc-gcc. This cross prefix must be passed …

qemu -nographic binary.img # simply no display qemu -curses binary.img # nice text output, but not directly flowing in the terminal qemu -noframe -curses binary.img # same as above qemu -nographic -curses binary.img I guess an acceptable workaround would be for me to be able to resize the curses console to fit the terminal I am using.
