NOTE: The IEEE standards group is devising new addressing schemes that may support additional QinQ tunneling operations. Check the latest product release notes for implementation updates as they apply to HP switches. When QinQ is not enabled (the default setting), there are no impacts to the switch's normal operations. ...

Jun 06, 2017 · Open vSwitch (OVS) recently gained support for 802.1ad (QinQ). It can be used as a lightweight alternative to tunnel technologies such as; VXLAN, GENEVE, GRE. A key advantage of QinQ is that it can make use of hardware offload features common in network interface cards (NICs). Only newer NICs support hardware offload for VXLAN and […]

QinQ Interfaces¶. QinQ interfaces may be created that have nested 802.11q VLAN tags. In pfSense® software, these are managed at Interfaces > (assign) on the QinQs tab.. The NIC in use must properly support 802.11q VLANs, or the reduced MTU from using such an interface may be problematic.

Hello Emmanouil, not specifically for QinQ, but you probably need more then a LAN base image but IP services image. The configuration guide chapter has no notes about feature set needed and the feature is reported in the overview at the beginning of the configuration guide of C3560

I have performed a quick search through the Configuration Guide for the latest IOS release however I do not see any information regarding QinQ being supported for the 2960X. I found a Support thread that did indicate it is not supported for the 2960X model however I did not see any Cisco documentation that indicated that was the case.

To configure an Ethernet interface as an IEEE 802.1ad (QinQ) VLAN trunk. Background. 802.1ad is a protocol for carrying VLAN traffic on an Ethernet. It is based upon 802.1Q, but allows for VLANs to be nested by adding two tags to each frame instead of one (a technique commonly known as VLAN stacking or …

802.1Q tunneling (aka Q-in-Q) is a technique often used by Metro Ethernet providers as a layer 2 VPN for customers. 802.1Q (or dot1q) tunneling is pretty simple…the provider will put a 802.1Q tag on all the frames that it receives from a customer with a unique VLAN tag.
