The radiator is bolted to the core support. Replacing the core support is a job for a body shop. The tow guys hooked onto the radiator core support instead of proper mounting points. Laziness. Lower part of support is completely destroyed.

Mar 30, 2015 · Use two Phillips head screwdrivers to line up the core support to the inner fender and then remove one of the screwdrivers to install the 5/16-18 screws. Don’t tighten anything until all of the side screws are started. We counted three shims between the core support and the front crossmember during disassembly and installed the same amount.

When replacing the radiator support, the new support comes as an assembly with the bridging brackets already riveted to the new support. When removing the existing radiator support assembly, remove by cutting the factory spotwelds on the bridging brackets. Do not cut or drill out the bridging brackets at the riveted locations.

Without the radiator support bracket, the radiator would not properly be stabilized and the vehicle would overheat. At the time the car didn't use this support because it had a 4 cylinder engine in at the time and there was an adapter bracket that the much smaller radiator mounted to which brought the radiator closer to the engine. Now that the car has a V8 the radiator core support is used for the much larger radiator.
