The Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) controller software doesn't include support the Windows TRIM feature in RAID 1. TRIM enables the SSD to handle garbage collection overhead, if TRIM is not enabled it will significantly slow down future write operations to the involved blocks.

As you can see from above, many hardware and software RAID implementations do not support TRIM, so it's moot and we have to proceed with our designs under the assumption that we don't have TRIM. 2. Even in some newer systems that do support TRIM, if you have a heavy 24x7 stream of I/O activity, TRIM will never get a chance to take effect.

If the Hex Value is 1, the drive supports TRIM. If the Hex Value is 0, the drive doesn't support TRIM 1. 1 The 34-nm series Intel® Solid State Drive (Intel® SSD) drives with firmware 02G9 show the Hex Value as 0 because this firmware version does not support TRIM.

Sep 12, 2016 · So what I want to do is build an array of 2 HDDs in raid 0 and 1 ssd in ahci. I managed to boot in to windows but figured out that trim isn't enabled for my ssd. I've updated to the latest driver but it doesn't seem to be fixed either. I heard Intel has trim support via their RST drivers.Reviews: 20
