The Raiding Support Regiment was formed in mid-1943 from men from the SBS, LRDG and Greek Sacred Squadron. Its role was to support raiding forces and bring heavy weapons to the partisan groups in Greece, Yugoslavia and Albania. By October 1943 it had acquired Regimental status and fielded no less than five batteries of support weapons.
