May 13, 2013 · Use a ready build board. I have successfully tested a mbed audio codec board featuring a TLV320AIC23 and a PROTO audio codec board featuring a WM8731. The biggest challenge here is to connect them to the Raspberry Pi without crosstalk. Look into the datasheets for more information and ask if questions arise.

I am building a I2S audio codec using an ADAU1781 chip, which will communicate with the Pi via the GPIO pins. In my research I have found that there is an ASoC driver built into the Raspberry Pi kernel.

Jun 22, 2016 · I see in the ADAU1781 driver wiki page that I2S communication is supported. I wanted to ask what steps I would need to take to make this work with a Raspberry Pi. The end goal is to use the ADAU1781 as an audio I/O hat, working through the GPIO pins that is recognized by alsa, such that it shows up as an audio device under aplay -l.
