With true multimon support, a window will only maximize to the extent of the containing monitor. If an application queries for the number of monitors inside a span-mode session, it will find only one monitor, whereas it will find as many monitors as are actually present on the client system when using true multimon RDP.

Jan 04, 2013 · I have exact the same problem with RDP activex. Multimon option is detecting that I have two monitors on client side, but both are displayed and cramped inside a single RDP window shown on primary monitor only. The RDP window is horizontally scrolled and both displays are glued together on that window. second monitor can't be used.

Mar 30, 2012 · What xfreerdp does is 'true' multimonitor support: it uses the RDP multimonitor extension to have true multiple screens, each of which can be differently sized. Spanning would be 'fake' multimonitor support, as it would appear to the server that there's only one (large) monitor.
