Feb 04, 2010 · I called a pool guy, and he said my bearings were shot. So it looks as if I have 3 choices: 1) Replace the bearings, 2) replace the motor, or 3) replace the whole pump. Pool Guy thinks that I should replace the whole pump with a 1.5hp WhisperFlo, which he would do for $850.

First of all, on both pumps: bearings are sold for the particular motor. Many of the pump/motor combos can have different motors used for different years. The best bet to get the correct bearings is to take the motor to an electrical repair shop and let them sell to you. OR on the motor there will be a name such as AO Smith, Century etc.

Nov 20, 2017 · I'm 95% certain its the outboard bearing on the drive motor, so I'd like to repair it before it completely locks up. Looking at the Pentair documentation, they'll have you throw away the motor and replace it at a cost of $300. I think it can be rebuilt.
