Oct 27, 2015 · The issue with RichFaces 3.3.3 still stands, development has moved to 4.x version and they’ve dropped support for the older versions although at least IE issues could be easily fixed. Fortunately patching RichFaces AJAX.js is relatively easy.

Mar 31, 2010 · I indeed had the very same problem. I solved it by implementing the modalPanel behaviour on my own (hiding it within an a4j:outputPanel, reRender the ouputPanel upon click and now render the panel and reRender the outputPanel once the button is clicked which is inside the panel.

But eventually I have a founded a solution to resolve this Richfaces compatability issues in IE8. The way is to implement “IE=7” X-UA-Compatible tag, which instructs IE8 to display content in IE7 Standards mode.
