Necromancer offers nothing for support. Rift mage weakens enemies, groups enemies up and regains mana when damaging weakened enemies. KE has a longer lasting barrier, generates a barrier on itself by doing damage, and has a melee range bubble that slows down enemies (and projectiles) inside it. I've used both Solas and Vivienne as support mages.

Leveling Builds. Out of all the Mage builds available in Rift Planes of Telara, I think the most effective Rift Mage leveling build is the Necromancer / Warlock / Dominator combo.
