Jul 18, 2013 · Be aware that Piranha Bytes always developed primaly for the PC. In fact Risen 1 was their first game to get a console port and it sucked. Hence I suggest you to go along with the keyboard, unless you prefer a controller, because you want to lay back on a couch. In my opinion Risen 1 has the best controls of all PB games.

You'll save yourself a lot of trouble down the line if you just end up buying a used 360 controller. I used a logitech gamepad for the longest time, and I was surprised how many games i'd have to emulate it as a 360 controller. Eventually i just said **** it and bought a used controller for $10.

Sure I have a wireless keyboard.. wireless mouse.. TBH I think this game plays fairly well with a gamepad too though. The thing is that it's downright unacceptable that a game that is simultaneously released on the Xbox 360 and PC doesn't have 360 controller support on the PC version.

From what I found, it seems Risen 2 did have native controller support AND, if you switched to controller mode, it actually changed the UI to be like the 360 game, dropping the shortcut bar for radial menus. Seems it only worked with XInput controllers though, so you needed a 360 controller or a program to emulate one.
