Mar 22, 2012 · The 520 / 1020 models are not RAID protected but we have yet to have a failed disk after 8+ years of using them. The units are basically low end Dell 1 U servers. The cost is in the software and support. Riverbed does overcharge but it's in the technology. As an example, we looked at going to the next model as ours reached end of life.
