Aug 29, 2007 · The chimney breast is 900mm in depth (1200mm in width), a lot wider than one RSJ would support. My question is: do I need two RSJs running parallel with each other, one to support the wall and back of chimney breast and the other to support the front of the chimney breast.

Jun 29, 2010 · RSJ is 5 mtr long and it sits on the inner wall of the outside loadbearing wall and the other end sits on the centre wall. I have supported the chimney stack by 2 strongboy/ acro and then removed the bricks and now i am rebuliding the bricks on top of the Rsj to where the strongboy/ acro is and then pack it tight with slates.
