Apr 08, 2014 · This resulted in distortion of about 3/4" and I suspect was a one boat oversight. Couldn't find evidence that previous looney owner had removed it. Back to deck core, I suppose they had extra ply when they did mine. At some point I'll replace the bad balsa coring (aft of shrouds) but for now I just want to finish the cabin and sail for awhile. Aug 02, 2017 · Mast rake is the angle at which a mast slopes aft from vertical as viewed from the side. In the rare event that a mast is raked forward it is said to have forward rake. For reasons that aren't fully understood, most boats seem to sail best with a bit of rake. They also look better, to most eyes anyway.
