to Boot From M.2 PCI-E you need to be in UEFI mode as legacy does not support PCI-E Boot so you would have to go back to UEFI! the only kind of Drive you could boot from off the slot with the Legacy mode would be a M.2 SATA 6 Gb/s drive as they are compliant!

Re: HP DL360 Gen9 Server with SSD Sounds like you have a system that uses the B140i Dynamic Smart Array controller. Either you have disable the RAID function in RBSU and set the contoller to SATA AHCI mode, or you are using Legacy Boot Mode.

Aug 25, 2015 · AHCI simply removes that need for translating as well as expand the feature set that SATA supports. The purpose of the Legacy IDE mode is because older systems (Windows XP) don't have support for SATA or AHCI.
