Anyway I used Everest in XP and it told me my sata drive is working in ide-compatible mode. I want to get the full advantages of sata and so I am trying to figure it out whether that is true and if so how to change it.

Apr 18, 2008 · XP has very poor native support for SATA drives. To be used, one must either put in a floppy with the controller driver in, or slipstream the driver into the installation CD. XP does "support" them, though, in that they can be used with the correct drivers. @MK Chicago: Yes, you need drivers for the SATA controller on your motherboard.
