It completely depends on your user base. In my line of work we support local councils so we have to maintain IE6 support as their computers are generally out of date and won't be upgraded for some time. If you are developing for a cutting edge audience however, then IE6 support will be less necessary.

Oct 19, 2008 · Yeah, one should be ashamed to use a seven year old browser, but many big companies have IT departments that move soooo slow. If you are building a new site today, I would stay tough bananas to anyone using IE6. It won't be worth your pain to support IE6. Once IE8 is out, I would cancel support for IE6 for existing sites too.
