The Sims games rely heavily on the CPU and hardly anything on the GPU. This game needs Quad core support to become futureproof because it really sucks for us Quad Core gamers to play The Sims 2 these days and still get horrible processing hiccups.

Regardless, your processor will reach 1.3 GHz at peak performance, that's the best it's going to do. TS3 needs 2.2 GHz on a dual core, 2.4 GHz at least with EPs, and on a laptop a processor at least as strong as an i5, though i7 is recommended, to keep up with the game's instruction set.
