SiS 661FX is an integrated graphics chip on the motherboard. This thread (and a couple of others I read) suggests that it cannot display the 1680x1050 widescreen resolution, however, the last poster suggests (without proof) that it can, with a driver update. This is often the case with other graphics adapters. Anyway, I'd say that is the source of your problem.

Jul 07, 2014 · I also have problems with SIS video hardware. My nine year old Gigabyte motherboard uses SIS 661FX onboard graphics. It worked with Ubuntu version 12.04.0 but not 12.04.3. During boot it displays a message about not finding a SIS 630 compatible bus. The same problem occurs with several different 2013 versions of Linux.
