Sep 23, 2019 · SafeGuard Device Encryption supports Opal drives that comply with version 1.0 of the OPAL specification, Opal 2.0 drives are only supported if they are fully compatible with the version 1.0 specification. Since version 7 of SafeGuard Enterprise / Easy no Opal checks are performed by default.

Nov 28, 2016 · One caution: to date, Sophos supports the Opal 1.0 spec, but not Opal 2.0 which is the most up-to-date. You might want to check your user manuals to make sure that your drive supports Opal 1.0. The latest Crucial MX300 and Micron 1100 client SSDs do support both Opal 1 and Opal 2. I know it sounds strange to say it that way.
