Oct 03, 2017 · The game should be stated as having full controller support to play it, but it could just be because the main menu for this game doesn't have controller support. I don't see regular controllers navigating the main menu, but the Steam controller could be an exception. Can't say I know, though, since I've never tried that sort yet.

The steam controller would only aim and shoot (left and right mouse as trigger). This tipped me off to the idea that maybe the game doesn't recognize the controller but the controller is still using the Desktop profile for the controller. In the big picture mode settings I changed my Desktop controller configuration to my battlefront configuration.
