Only Catalyst supports OpenGL 4.5 with Radeon so it appears the driver is working and if it wasn't working, SteamOS would probably say you're using llvmpipe software rendering and every kind of 3D rendering would be quite slow for the most part.

Jan 09, 2014 · Expecting SteamOS to even make it to 1% is a bit hopeful. In the end it comes down to money, if SteamOS does not feature big release games it will fail. There is no financial benefit for any publisher outside of Valve to support Linux and most companies are so risk adverse that it will be seen as a negative ROI move.

OTOH, HyperZ enabling is a MUST for the Radeon OSS driver when using graphics 3D (i.e. games). I forgot to mention that i enable HyperZ when using Radeon OSS driver. I use AA and still get a good performance from this little APU. Because i heard about enable it in two different ways, do this in command line: export R600_HYPERZ=1

It's all based on xcompmgr, we just all know that NVIDIA's binary graphics driver provides first-rate Linux support. With a Raodeon HD 6950 graphics card, the system booted up into SteamOS without any issues at all.
