Feb 22, 2010 · Yep, the symbolic links created with MKLINK. I think that subversion has intelligence to detect if a file is a symbolic link and store it in the repository as a text file with a special format (basically the path to the file). Then when the file is checked out, it recreates the symbolic link on the file system.

Subversion will store the symlink target path exactly the way you created it. Did you create the symbolic link to point to the correct target, and in a way that is portable across working copies? For example, if the link is supposed to point to some other item in your repository, you would probably want to create it using a relative target path:
