inotify - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inotify
Inotify does report some but not all events in sysfs and procfs. Notification via inotify requires the kernel to be aware of all relevant filesystem events, which is not always possible for networked filesystems such as NFS where changes made by one client are not immediately broadcast to other clients.

Legacy GPIO Interfaces — The Linux Kernel documentation

    https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v4.17/driver-api/gpio/legacy.html
If neither of these options are selected, the platform does not support GPIOs through GPIO-lib and the code cannot be enabled by the user. Trivial implementations of those functions can directly use framework code, which always dispatches through the gpio_chip:

Queue sysfs files — The Linux Kernel documentation

    https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/block/queue-sysfs.html
Queue sysfs files¶. This text file will detail the queue files that are located in the sysfs tree for each block device. Note that stacked devices typically do not export any settings, since their queue merely functions are a remapping target.

[v4,01/12] usb: xhci: add sysfs file for xHCI debug port ...

    https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/618529/
Nov 17, 2015 · With a host that supports debug port, a file named "debug_port_state" will be created under the device sysfs directory. Reading this file will show users the state (disabled, enabled or configured) of the debug port. With a host that does NOT support debug port, "debug_port_state" file won't be created.

Synchronous I/O on sysfs files - Linux forum (Read-Only ...

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/legacy_forums/embedded/linux/f/354/t/502515
Apr 01, 2016 · fd is bound to a special file which does not support synchronization. I've checked the code for possible operations on a sysfs file, and did not find any sort of `do_sync_write` or `do_fsync` functions. So, does the `O_SYNC` flag have any effect when opening a sysfs file?

[BUG] perf parser: does not support arbitrary new sysfs events

    http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1210.3/02336.html
the point of sysfs event list if it is not used or cannot be extended? Note that when I explicitly pass the content of the sysfs file to perf record, it works: $ perf record -e cpu/event=0xcd,umask=0x1,ldlat=3/ ..... So this is clearly a problem with the lookup in sysfs. Also if you have the mappings exposed now in sysfs, why keep the hardcoded

Application space GPIO support - eLinux.org

    https://elinux.org/GPIO
General Purpose Input or Output: a generic I/O line on a SoC is often referred to as a GPIO. By definition a GPIO is a line that can be used as an input or output. In some cases vendors will to a signal that support external interrupts as a GPIO line as well.

[linux-dvb] Re: [ANNOUNCE] SysFS-Support Pre2

    https://www.linuxsecrets.com/linuxtv-wiki/mailinglists/linux-dvb/2004/05-2004/msg00467.html
IIRC sysfs does not directly support "adapterN" subdirectories. Michael and Greg KH briefly discussed a possible solution on lkml, an el cheapo variant would use names like "videoM.N". What you do in dvb_sysfs_register_device() does not allow adapters with more than one frontend or decoder.

synchronization - Synchronous I/O on sysfs files

    https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/273634/synchronous-i-o-on-sysfs-files
Synchronous I/O on sysfs files. Ask Question Asked 3 years, 10 months ago. ... EROFS, EINVAL fd is bound to a special file which does not support synchronization I've checked the code for possible operations on a sysfs file, and did not find any sort of do_sync_write or do_fsync functions.

linux - What is the difference between procfs and sysfs ...

    https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/4884/what-is-the-difference-between-procfs-and-sysfs
What is the difference between procfs and sysfs? proc is the old one, it is more or less without rules and structure. And at some point it was decided that proc was a little too chaotic and a new way was needed. Then sysfs was created, and the new stuff that was added was put into sysfs like device information.
