You can use a controller for everything when using Xpadder or Joy to Key. On the other hand it will be very difficult to set up because of the inventory interaction. Also, while playing System Shock 2 you'll need many more keys than the ones the game pad provides you. I'd go with mouse and keyboard. I guess it'll be more comfortable this way.

Oct 25, 2015 · Honestly, I play FPS games with a Steam controller all the time and it works great. I even beat System shock with it again, but SC has a trackpad. I would never attempt an FPS with an analog stick though, especially not SS2 with its inventory management. But that's just me, maybe someone can.
