I was hoping to place in tech support mode (telnet) and go into the unit to simply disable the Tivo and Bittorrent plugins, except I dont work for netgear and dont have the trade secret to telnet in using support mode :-D As the plot thickens, I was gifted this nas, ReadyNAS 1100 from my company, as they used it years back for archived backups.

So, when the box is in 'Debug / Tech support' mode, and says it's IP on the OLED, there is no documented way you guys are aware of that I can hop on to whatever OS is running at that particular moment and make changes to items on the filesystem? That seems pretty lame, and kind of strange.

Dec 04, 2012 · My case may have been specific, but if you find yourself needing to access and modify the root partition of the ReadyNAS Pro without having SSH access, the Netgear tech support mode is a viable option. Just mind what you do when you’re there. You’re not supposed to be there and you’ll probably void your warranty just by considering it..
