    Sep 12, 2011 · We have run into similar problems before, it is not just the individual file name but the entire path that makes up the "long file name", so all the nested folders contributed to this length. Have you the user look at all the folder names along the path, some of them may need to be shortened with abbreviations, etc.

    What will work is taking spaces OUT of the directory name -or- the file name. It will probably work okay if either of them have spaces but NOT BOTH. Strange but true.
