It does this by adding top-level rows to match the items in the source collection, and adding child rows to child items which are not direct children of the source collection.

However the msh grid is a more powerful grid that allows you to built data in a hierarchical nature ( like a tree) If you do not require this type of arrangement you can avoid using it as it uses more memory than the simpler flex grid.
