Jun 28, 2013 · It sounds like the only option which is reasonable to breathe life into my T41 is to install a 533MHz Dothan, like the Pentium M 780 - which does have PAE/NX support. It will run at the 400MHz clock rather than 533MHz in my T41, which will turn it into a 1.7GHz CPU - which would still be an upgrade (my T41 is 1.4GHz! its only used for word pro).

Dec 24, 2013 · Without special modification, version 12.04 is the highest version of Lubuntu that will work as PAE is used after that. The T41 does not support PAE (Physical Address Extensions) unless you get a special build.

Nov 02, 2012 · I have a Thinkpad T41. The last BIOS update they did was a single one in 2007, and the release notes for that one mentioned it handled usb and AMD video chip support. ... (where a M 770 has NX/PAE support) and it didn’t show NX/PAE. I didn’t bother testing with the M 765 because I’m totally convinced the result would be the same. Reply. Bolar
