Aug 31, 2016 · I believe the BIOS (assuming you're running in BIOS mode and not UEFI) of your system is not compatible with ESXi's Direct I/O Passthrough. Even if the disk controller itself (which as Gary said is NOT managed by sending it to a VM) is not compatible with passthrough (not all disk controllers are), I think you would still see NICs and USB controllers available to passthrough.
