Upgrade from 7.1 to 7.2 is now a MUST, because as long as you remain on 7.1: Your SAP Solution Manager 7.1 is disconnected from SAP's Support Backbone since Jan 8, 2020, meaning that you can no longer implement SAP Notes, you have no access to SAP services and you lose some core Solution Manager functions, as detailed here.
