How do I mount a USB Mass Storage Device in Debian? The USB Stick is working on other computers. I have used dmesg which returned useful information about the USB Stick. It is attached to /dev/sdc.. I tried to mount it using mount -t with different filesystem type parameters (ntfs, vfat, fat16, usbfs and usbdevfs).. Only one of these parameters seemed to actually result in something.

Usbfs has been deprecated for a long time already. It was disabled since Ubuntu 9.10 (but you could recompile the kernel to get it -- CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y). In the Linux kernel it was completely removed in 3.5 so it is completely missing since Ubuntu 12.10.

I’ve used Ubuntu for the past few years but dislike the direction canonical takes sometimes. Furthermore, I really like/support the Debian project’s philosophy and would like to contribute. Would I be able to achieve what I’m looking for with Debian? Open to any and all suggestions!

Mount usbfs on linux 3.10 kernel - Stack Overflow

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25793399/mount-usbfs-on-linux-3-10-kernel
I did upgrade linux kernel from 2.6 to 3.10 version In init nn 2.6 I did mount usbfs mount -t usbfs usbfs /proc/bus/usb -onodev,nosuid,noexec. To enable usbfs I did CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y and CONFIG_USB_DEVICE_CLASS=y in kernel's config but they are obsolete in 3.10 kernels. So how yo emulate usbfs on 3.10 kernel?
