Doing so within V4L2 requires a /dev/videoN node for each input and output port, ie 4 total (1 in, 3 out) as otherwise you can't tell which queue has buffers available when select returns. OS - Mandriva Linux Cooker (2010 alpha 2) x86_64. I have tested both vlc 1.0.0 and 1.0.1. And DVB has nothing to do with this problem as we talk about analog TV.

changing device with v4l2-ctl is not working. I have a WinTV HVR 1900 TV tuner runnning on Ubuntu 13.10, from which I would like to capture S-VIDEO input. The device is supported, based on LinuxTV. As is written here, it seems that that kind of device defaults to the tuner input, and that a change of input is therefore needed.
