May 15, 2016 · The Retired Peer Support Officer Program, the first of its kind in Australia, is helping former officers struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health issues. Program coordinator Vicki Key said it relied on retired police officers volunteering their time to help.
The PPTSG is supported in its work by the NSWPF, health professionals, various counselling services and support networks. In addition to providing telephone, email, and face to face support to serving and former police officers and their immediate families, PPTSG also support first responders who commit to work in Fire and Ambulance.
